Jerry West On LaVar Ball: ‘I Wouldn’t Want A Father Like That’ (VIDEO)
With the NBA Finals set to tip-off on Thursday, the sports world is ready for some NBA action for the first time in a week. But before that happens, LaVar Ball is back in the news.
This time, he didn’t say or do anything. Something was said about him.
Hall of fame legend Jerry West was a guest on Thursday’s edition of ‘The Dan Patrick Show’, possibly expecting to answer some questions about the Finals, but he unexpectedly got hit with questions about LaVar Ball.
Patrick proceeded to ask West if he would have any “trepidation” about selecting UCLA star Lonzo Ball in the upcoming draft because of his father’s antics.
“I really don’t want to get into that. Frankly, I don’t even like to talk about his dad. I’d rather talk about the kid,” West said. “His dad, to me—I wouldn’t want a father like that, to be honest with you. Because I think he puts added pressure on his kid. You know he loves his kid, OK—you know that. But it should be about his kids, not about him.”
West’s full interview below. His comments about Ball start around the 7:10 mark.
