Boxer Daniel Franco in a Coma After Brutal KO (Video)
A frightening scene unfolded during a boxing match in Iowa, as boxer Daniel Franco had to be rushed to a hospital and is now in a coma following a knockout loss to Jose Haro.
Franco (16-2-3, 11 KOs) had already been knocked down once in the eighth round by Haro (14-1-1, 8 KOs), but he was able to get up before the 10-count. Moments later, he was knocked out by another hard right from Haro, but this time the 25-year-old went down in a much more frightening manner.

The referee stopped the fight immediately. While Franco was alert following the knockout and seemed okay for a moment, he was forced to lay back on the mat moments later and was eventually rushed to a nearby hospital. He underwent surgery to stop two brain bleeds and remained in a coma on Sunday.
Franco’s manager, Ray Chapparo, says that doctors believe the next 48 hours will be critical for his fighter. The featherweight from Rancho Cucamonga, California, is signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports Agency, who released the following statement:
“Roc Nation’s thoughts and prayers are with Daniel Franco and his family during this critical recovery period. He is a tenacious talent and champion, and will always have our support.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Daniel Franco during this difficult time.
