Odell Beckham Jr. Blasts Media with Custom Cleats at Giants Mini Camp (Pics)
New York Giants superstar Odell Beckham Jr. took a lot of heat from the NFL media over his decision not to attend voluntary OTAs last month.
Now that he’s finally back in town this week for the Giants mandatory three-day mini-camp, he’s got something to say. Only he’s not saying it with his mouth. He’s letting his shoes do the talking.
Odell took the field on Tuesday sporting a pair of custom Nike cleats featuring the logos for a number of media outlets—including TMZ, ESPN, New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal—along with the word “SHHHHH!” in big red block letters.
Take a look:
Not long after OBJ took the field, his cleat designer, Kickasso, drove the point home by posting a closeup shot of the cleats on Instagram along with the caption, “Silence the critics.” The post was later deleted, but the image remains:
After the high-profile tantrums he threw last year, few people would argue that maturity isn’t an issue for Odell Beckham Jr. However, to make a connection between those issues and his decision to skip some voluntary practices is a bit of a stretch. As long as the guy shows up in top shape ready to play, who cares if he comes to the voluntary practices?
