Tiger Woods Releases Statement: Getting “Professional Help” to “Manage My Medications” (Tweet)
Ever since Tiger Woods was busted for driving under the influence back on May 29, there has been rampant speculation the 14x Major champion is battling an addiction to prescription pain killers. In fact, just a few days ago it was reported that Tiger had checked himself into rehab in order to avoid losing custody of his kids.
Now Woods has finally addressed these reports and rumors. Sort of.
Tiger Woods issued a statement via Twitter on Monday. While this statement did not contain the words “addiction” or “rehab,” it certainly alluded to them.
“I’m currently receiving professional help to manage my medications and the ways that I deal with back pain and a sleep disorder,” the statement reads. “I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support and understanding, especially the fans and players on tour.”

Of course, it’s totally understandable Tiger doesn’t want to say the words “addiction” and “rehab” in public. He has a right to privacy. Whatever is really going on, all that really matters is that he is open and honest with the people providing the “professional help.” You can’t solve problems you won’t admit you have.
