REPORT: Multiple Cavs Players Advising Jimmy Butler To ‘Stay Away’ From Team Because Of Owner Dan Gilbert
It’s not often that a franchise that has been to the NBA Finals three straight years suddenly turns into a complete dumpster fire, but that’s exactly what’s happening to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Within the last few days, general manager David Griffin was fired and LeBron was reportedly upset about it. Kyrie Irving reportedly stated he would demand a trade if LeBron leaves in 2018. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving reached out to Bulls star Jimmy Butler to get him on the squad, but a report later stated that Butler informed the Cavs he would rather stay on the Bulls and make them a contender.
That’s a lot of stuff for a team that won the title just one year ago. And it’s not over yet.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Butler was informed by multiple players on the Cavaliers to ‘stay away’ from the team because of owner Dan Gilbert and how unpredictable he is.
“According to a Cleveland source close to the situation, several of the Cavaliers who had been prodding Butler to push for a trade from the Bulls the last five days were now warning him to stay away from a suddenly volatile situation.
With the ouster of Cavaliers general manager David Griffin on Monday, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love could be headed for an unforeseen early breakup.”
The Cavs immediately denied that report.
