Manny Pacquiao Asks WBO to Review Controversial Loss to Jeff Horn
Last week, when Manny Pacquiao lost in a unanimous decision to challenger Jeff Horn in an Australian bout, much of the world cried foul. While Pacquiao had been silent himself on the shocking turn of events, he’s revealed he’s not about to take the events lying down.
He’s asking the WBO to follow through on a request from Philippine sports officials to review the outcome of Saturday’s welterweight championship bout.
His reasoning? He doesn’t want this to result in the boxing industry “dying because of [an] unfair decision and officiating.”
Pacquiao frames the quest as a moral one, rather than a selfish one, stating, “I had already accepted the decision, but as a leader and, at the same time, fighter, I have the moral obligation to uphold sportsmanship, truth, and fairness in the eyes of the public.”
Well, ok then.
