Angry DeMar DeRozan Throws Ball at Ref During Drew League Loss (VIDEO)
I think it’s fair to say that, no matter what the stakes, most professional athletes do not like losing. Whether it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals, or a meaningless summer league game, the best players in the world always want to be on the winning side. It’s just the nature of the beast.
With that being said, we take you to a recent Drew League game featuring Toronto Raptors all-star guard DeMar DeRozan, along with Warriors newly-acquired swingman Nick Young.
Trailing by three with just over 20 seconds remaining, DeRozan drove the lane and sank a tough layup to cut the lead to one—although, he felt as though he deserved an and-one call on the play, and a chance to tie it.
As DeMar argued, the opposing team scored an easy bucket at the other end, causing the Raptors star to toss the ball against the gymnasium wall in frustration. He was called for a technical foul, the other team converted on both free-throws, and with only a few seconds remaining and the game out of reach, DeRozan took an inbound pass and fired the ball in the direction of the official, nearly hitting a spectator in the process.
DeRozan continued jawing at the ref after the final buzzer had sounded, until Swaggy P came to the rescue and escorted his teammate off the court.
DeRozan finished the game with 41 points, but nobody cares about that, amiright? Here’s a look at DeMar’s blow-up and what caused it:
