Warriors Set NBA Record By Going WAAAAY Over Budget This Offseason
If it seems like the Golden State Warriors have spent a TON of money this offseason…you’re right. They have. This is coming from no less than Bob Myers, the Warriors GM who, speaking on a Bay Area sports podcast, said that the team is “way over” the budget that owner Joe Lacob initially set.
Of course, it’s Lacob and his competitive streak that found the team in this position, but…still. The team signed $334 million in new contracts this off-season and is sitting at $135 million on the books for just the next year. That’s an NBA record, sports fans.
Surely, Warriors fans have no issue with this spending, but the way the front office has gone about things, if the team doesn’t bring home a championship, people, especially those writing the checks, are going to be VERY upset.
