REPORT: LeBron James Will Not Waive His No-Trade Clause
A lack of offseason moves, a front office that appears to be in limbo, and the possible departure of Kyrie Irving are all good reasons for LeBron James to hightail it out of Cleveland. However, according to a report from ESPN, King James has no intention of waiving his no-trade clause for any team at any point next season.
James is currently signed for the 2017-18 season, with a $35.6-million option for 2018-19. It is fully expected that LeBron will decline that option and hit the free agent market next offseason (LA Lakers, anyone?). But, should the Cavs season appear to be going up in flames, James has made it known that he will not waive his no-trade clause in order to give the Cavs a chance to get something in return before he leaves them again.
Whether or not James changes him mind during the season is anyone’s guess. But for now, we can all expect to see him in a No. 23 Cavs jersey until at least next June.
