Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett Channels Inner Belichick As Local Media Grills Him About Lucky Whitehead Situation (Video)
The Dallas Cowboys cut Lucky Whitehead on Monday after TMZ reported that a warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with a shoplifting incident in Virginia back in June.
At first blush that seems like a fairly reasonable response. Sure, Ezekiel Elliott has been a much bigger headache and he hasn’t been cut. But Ezekiel Elliott is a superstar. He’s worth the headache. Lucky Whitehead is totally replaceable. That’s the nature of the business.
Of course, as you probably know, it turns out that Lucky Whitehead was totally innocent. The dude was not even in Virginia at the time of the shoplifting incident. It was a case of mistaken (and possibly stolen) identity, and the police absolved him of any wrongdoing. So the Cowboys welcomed Lucky back with opened arms, right?
Nope! The Dallas Cowboys are standing by their hasty, unfair, stupid decision. And if you don’t believe it, just ask head coach Jason Garrett.
On Tuesday local reporters grilled Garrett about the Lucky Whitehead situation, and Garrett pulled page from the Bill Belichick press conference playbook, simply repeating the same answer over and over…and over…and over.

+1 to the reporter who asked if there are just some people in the Dallas Cowboys organization who are just “too stupid” to work for this team. That is seriously one of the greatest questions I have ever heard in my life.
As for Garrett, I wonder if he’ll still think cutting Lucky Whitehead was in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys after the NFLPA files a grievance.
