REPORT: Kyrie Irving Wants Out Because He’s Tired Of LeBron Treating Him Like A Child
On the outside looking in, it would seem like a great opportunity to be a teammate of LeBron James, knowing you’re not only guaranteed a playoff appearance every year, but the chance to compete for a title year in and year out.
For Kyrie, that was fun for three years, but it eventually ran its course. The star guard demanded a trade because he’s tired of playing Robin to LeBron’s Batman.
According to the ‘Undefeated’, he’s also tired of being seen as the son or little brother of LeBron.
ESPN’s The Undefeated explains:
“Kyrie isn’t saying he’s better than LeBron and should be seen that way,” a close confidant of Irving’s told me. “He’s saying he’s not about to let LeBron ‘SON’ him … treating him like he’s the child and LeBron’s the father or big brother he’s supposed to look up to.
“Kyrie knows he’s a franchise-caliber talent. He wants to be treated like it. And he’s tired of hearing about what LeBron needs, and he’s damn sure tired of hearing LeBron sound like he always needs more. As if the crew they have isn’t enough.”
Take this moment, for example, when a reporter asked Kyrie what type of father figure LeBron has played for him and the ‘parental role’ he has taken for the team.
Or this all-time epic moment, when a reporter asked LeBron if Kyrie gets a pass for having a bunch of points with no assists, while Kyrie shakes his head in disbelief.
