Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles Tosses 5 Interceptions In Rough Practice

Jacksonville Jaguars v Indianapolis Colts

Two months ago, after being in the league for three seasons, it appeared as though Blake Bortles was starting to figure out this whole ‘how to be a quarterback’ thing when he delivered this infamous quote:

“If you don’t turn the ball over, you’ll win football games.”

Seems pretty simple, standard, and crucial for a quarterback to remember this bit of info. Someone may want to remind him about it, though, because he clearly forgot after he went full Ryan Mallett and tossed 5 interceptions in an absolute brutal practice—two in 7-on-7 and three more in 11-on-11 drills.

Linebacker Telvin Smith returned one for a touchdown. Cornerback Tyler Patmon intercepted Bortles twice during 11-on-11 drills. LB Josh McNary and safety Tashaun Gipson also had interceptions.

Turnovers have been a problem for Bortles since he entered the league in 2014. He leads the NFL in turnovers (63) and has thrown the second-most interceptions (51) over the past three seasons. He has thrown 11 pick-sixes, which also is the number of victories he has as a starting quarterback.”
