Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles Tosses 5 Interceptions In Rough Practice
Two months ago, after being in the league for three seasons, it appeared as though Blake Bortles was starting to figure out this whole ‘how to be a quarterback’ thing when he delivered this infamous quote:
“If you don’t turn the ball over, you’ll win football games.”
Seems pretty simple, standard, and crucial for a quarterback to remember this bit of info. Someone may want to remind him about it, though, because he clearly forgot after he went full Ryan Mallett and tossed 5 interceptions in an absolute brutal practice—two in 7-on-7 and three more in 11-on-11 drills.
Linebacker Telvin Smith returned one for a touchdown. Cornerback Tyler Patmon intercepted Bortles twice during 11-on-11 drills. LB Josh McNary and safety Tashaun Gipson also had interceptions.
“Turnovers have been a problem for Bortles since he entered the league in 2014. He leads the NFL in turnovers (63) and has thrown the second-most interceptions (51) over the past three seasons. He has thrown 11 pick-sixes, which also is the number of victories he has as a starting quarterback.”
