Matt Barnes wants people to put respect on LeBron James’ name.

Welcome to the social media era, where anything and anyone will eventually be hated on in time. The Golden State Warriors forward was a recent guest on Fox Sports 1’s ‘Undisputed’, and he believes more people need to learn to appreciate LeBron while he’s still playing instead of hating on every little thing.

“I think people get caught up so much in hating on him (LeBron James) instead of sitting back and realizing you’re witnessing history. He’s one of the best players,” Barnes said during an appearance on FS1’s Undisputed Monday.

“We live in a world where it’s OK to hate. We give people without a voice on social media a voice and a platform to express their opinion.”

“I mean, hands down, his reputation speaks for itself. To average a triple-double, what he did out there was amazing,” added Barnes. “But also with Kyrie’s (Irving) ability to score. They were a two-headed monster. We were just really deep this year. We had a lot of different guys who could play a lot of different positions and guard. They just didn’t have enough. But you can never downplay his ability.”

Barnes may not have gotten much playing time in the NBA Finals, but he did have a front row seat to witness one of the greatest players ever average a triple-double in the Finals.

LeBron averaged 33.6 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 1.4 steals in five games against the Warriors.
