Sounds Like Brock Lesnar Really Is Returning to UFC to Fight Jon Jones
After weeks of conjecture, which reached a fever pitch following the Jon Jones–Daniel Cormier match last weekend, it sounds like Brock Lesnar really is going to get back into the octagon to fight. Sports Illustrated is reporting that Lesnar will balance his WWE obligations with his return to MMA.
The outlet states the following:
SI.com has learned that Lesnar’s return to the UFC is imminent, and he will fight Jones as well as fulfill his WWE obligations at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 34. This all affects the upcoming SummerSlam, as the likelihood that Lesnar keeps the WWE Universal championship, or takes any punishing moves, is all but dimmed, which is another reason he will be hidden in this Fatal 4-Way with Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and Samoa Joe.
However, Lesnar’s not yet being tested according to a source close to the UFC and this whole thing could be a ploy to get WWE to write him another big fat check after his obligations with them expire next April. That’s happened before.
But let’s focus on what we want. A few months of training would put a Jones-Lesnar match in early summer next year at the earliest. If we think hard enough, we can will it to happen.
