Fan Chases Yasiel Puig’s Cab for Three Blocks to Get His Autograph (Video)
As an outfielder, Yasiel Puig probably already knew New York baseball fans can be pretty hardcore. He’s played over 10 games at Citi Field since joining the big leagues in 2013, during which he’s probably heard his fair share of heckling from the bleacher bums.
On Sunday, however, Puig experienced a whole different side of New York baseball fandom.
Puig was in the Big Apple for the Dodgers’ three-game series against the Mets. The Dodgers obviously crushed the Mets, outscoring them 21-4 over the course of a three-game sweep, and Puig hit two homers. However, that wasn’t the highlight of his trip to New York.
While riding around Manhattan in a taxi with his agent on Sunday morning, a young fan chased him on foot for three blocks trying to get the Cuban superstar’s autograph. Eventually the cab rolled to a stop, and the kid, a pitcher for the Bathgate High Bulldogs in the Bronx, got his autograph.
Take a look:
We concur with Puig’s agent. Good work, kid.
