If you thought one of the soldiers on Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones looked a little familiar, you’re not crazy, and you’ve got a pretty good eye. Turns out that soldier was New York Mets fireballer Noah Syndergaard.

[Warning: spoilers for Season 7 Episode 4 of Game of Thrones to follow. I don’t know why on earth you’d be reading this if you have not seen it yet, but the people who run the internet say you always have to give spoiler warnings, so there you go.]

Rumours about Syndergaard’s GoT cameo have circulated for months. The Mets ace admitted back in March that he flew to Spain in November to film the scene. However, he could not reveal what his role would be or when the scene would air.

On Sunday, at long last, we saw him. Syndergaard was one of the Lannister soldiers who got ambushed on the road to King’s Landing by Daenerys and her Dothraki hoard.

Unfortunately for Noah, it is highly likely that his character was either sliced up by a Dothraki warrior or barbecued by Drogon. But, hey, at least he got to kill a guy with a spear before kicking the bucket:

Most extras on Game of Thrones just get disembowelled. Syndergaard was understandably proud of his moment of glory:

Of course, as you would expect, Twitter had plenty to say about all this:

Even Mr. Met got in on the fun:

Of course, while it may seem like Mr. Met and Noah Syndergaard are feuding, in reality they’re both just trying to help Mets fans take their minds off baseball.

Keep up the good work, guys.
