REPORT: Brock Osweiler Named Browns’ Starting QB For Preseason Opener
The Cleveland Browns QB depth chart has been one of the more fascinating elements of the NFL for the past decade or so, with the team seemingly running through several QBs a year, looking for one who can last more than 16 games or so.
This year, Texans outcast Brock Osweiler will be getting first crack at the gig as the starting QB for Thursday’s preseason game versus the Saints. Rookie DeShone Kizer will be third-string after Cody Kessler comes in at two.
Despite the proclamation, coach Hue Jackson insists that any QB could move ahead and get the nod for the following game against Pittsburgh, so it’s not like these roles are carved in stone.
Considering Osweiler was only really acquired so the team could get a second-round pick, this is either a good sign that Brock’s overachieving or a bad sign in that they just don’t have anyone better.
Any guesses as to which?
