Tom Brady’s Mom, Galynn, Receives Super Bowl 51 Ring from Patriots
Back in June, Tom Brady’s father revealed to the Boston Globe that his wife, Galynn, completed her cancer treatments in April. She had undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatments, which forced her to miss all of Brady’s games in 2016, except one—Super Bowl LI.
The team wanted to do something special for her. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft had one more Super Bowl ring to give out and he gifted it to a woman that looked cancer in the face and defeated it, just like she witnessed her son look at that 25-point deficit and mount a historic come-back to win Super Bowl LI.
“He’s been so supportive of my family and certainly everything my mom went through and knowing first-hand how families deal with it,” Brady said of Kraft’s gesture, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “He was always asking, ‘How’s mom doing? How is she feeling?’ We didn’t know up until the very end whether she was going to make it to the Super Bowl.
“It was a great surprise to all of us when the ring showed up. She deserves it.”
The Patriots kick off the new NFL season on September 7 when they host the Kansas City Chiefs.
