Denver Broncos Rookie Hot Dog Eating Contest Ends Very Badly for 20th Overall Pick Garrett Bolles (Video)
The Denver Broncos had a rookie hot dog eating contest at training camp this week. Unfortunately, it did not go very well for their top draft pick, offensive tackle Garrett Bolles.
Bolles, the 20th overall pick out of Utah, lined up next to fellow rookies Cameron Hunt, Elijah Wilkinson, and Jake Butt in a lecture hall at the team’s training center on Wednesday to engage in some competitive wiener-gobbling for the amusement of veterans and coaches.
Things started well enough. However, after a few minutes Bolles had to walk away from the table. At one point he even grabbed a trash can because he thought he might puke.
The good news for Bolles is that no chunks were actually spewed. The bad news is that, as he walked out of the lecture hall, he was taunted by chants of “SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!” like Cersei Lannister parading naked through the streets of King’s Landing.
Take a look:
In the end, it was undrafted offensive guard Cameron Hunt who emerged victorious. Unfortunately, there is no statistical correlation between consuming vast quantities of encased meats and effectively blocking defensive pass rushers. So the victory probably doesn’t guarantee Hunt a spot on the roster.
