Bodybuilder Dallas McCarver Dead at 26 After Choking on Food
Tragic news from the world of bodybuilding this week. Dallas McCarver, a six-foot 300-pound beast who placed 8th at the 2016 Mr. Olympia competition, has died at the age of 26, reportedly after choking on food at his Florida home.
According to McCarver’s girlfriend, WWE star Dana Brooke, McCarver was found by a friend just after midnight Tuesday, not long after she spoke to him on the phone. McCarver was then transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say there were no signs of foul play. During the 911 call, McCarver’s friend said there appeared to be something in his throat. Brooke says McCarver told her he was about to make dinner when she spoke to him, and that the cause of death appears to be choking.
McCarver suffered a health scare back in March, when he collapsed on stage at the 2017 Arnold Classic in Australia. However, he had been doing fine recently. Just hours before his death he’d had a very productive workout, reportedly doing chest presses with 160-pound dumbbells.
Could’ve been a little slower and better under control wth these 160s today… but sometimes you’ve just got to let the intensity flow. Great chest day with @josh_lenartowicz in @project_flex_fl #DragonsLair ! That damn @redcon1official #Silencer had me sweating like a whore in church boy! Whew!!!! #HotAsHell #LoveIt #DoTheHardSfuff #bigcountry #dallasmccarver #outgrowyourego #redcon1
Our thoughts go out to McCarvers family and friends.
