Maple Leafs Scout Arrested After Stealing & Crashing Golf Cart In Drunken Rampage

Washington Capitals v Toronto Maple Leafs - Game Six

A scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs has gotten himself in deep trouble after a night of fun turned into mischief.

53-year-old scout Lindsay Hofford was reportedly arrested at a Western New York theme park over the weekend, and local authorities say he got drunk, stole a golf cart, then collided with another vehicle and left the scene.

“The chain of events took place at 9993 Alleghany Road in Darien Center. Deputies say Lindsay I. Hofford, 53, of Nobleton, Ont., took the cart at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday.

A Sheriff’s Office statement doesn’t say where on the grounds the incident took place. The theme park closed at 10 p.m., but the park has a campground and the band Green Day brought its “Revolution Radio Tour” to the adjoining amphitheater that night.

Charges include driving while intoxicated, unauthorized use of a vehicle without the owner’s consent, leaving the scene of an accident, making an unsafe lane change and refusing to take a breath test.”

Hofford is due to reappear in court on Sept. 21.
