Dana White Claims Mayweather-McGregor Fight Shattered PPV Record With 6.5 Million Buys
In the two weeks leading up to the mega-fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, it felt like the steam and anticipation that initially surrounded the bout had died down, especially with everything that was going on in the country.
The night of the match, the steam picked up again as people suddenly regained their interest in the fight. Many waited until the last minute to purchase the bout, and now it appears as though the match will easily surpass the 4.4 million PPV buy record set by Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao back in 2015.
Tuesday night, former UFC fighter Urijah Faber recorded Dana White claiming the McGregor-Mayweather match generated 6.5 million PPV buys. That’s even with the reported 3 million people who illegally streamed the fight.
