Turns out J.J. Watt isn’t just a world class athlete. He’s also a world class motivator.

A little over a week ago, the Houston Texans superstar began spearheading a social media campaign aimed at raising money for the people of Houston as they deal with the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. Watt’s initial challenge to his social media followers was to donate $200,000. When they blew past that in a matter of hours, Watt raised the goal to $1 million. When they blew past that he raised it to $10 million.

Pretty soon all sorts of celebrities were chipping in. Drake donated $200,000. Miley Cyrus donated $500,000. And eventually J.J. Watt’s Hurricane Harvey relief fund blew past the $10 million mark. So he upped the goal to $20 million.

On Tuesday, Watt announced that they have reached that goal. Take a look:

There are some people out there on the interwebs who don’t like the way J.J. Watt promotes himself on social media. However, I bet the people of Houston are pretty okay with it right about now.

Watt put together one of the most incredible charity fundraisers ever in his spare time. It’s an absolutely amazing accomplishment. Let’s hope he continues to use his social media influence this way for years to come.
