Michael Bennett Police Brutality Incident Captured on Tape (VIDEO)
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett released a statement on Wednesday morning recounting how he was unlawfully handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser in Las Vegas following the Mayweather-McGregor fight on August 26. Now TMZ has obtained a video of the incident from a bystander.
The video was shot beyond a railing situated a few feet above the sidewalk outside Drai’s Nightclub. It shows one police officer positioning himself along the railing above Bennett with his gun drawn, providing cover for another officer who handcuffs Bennett while he lies facedown on the sidewalk.
The video does not confirm Bennett’s claim that officers threatened to “blow [his] f**king head off.” However, you do hear a police officer yelling at Bennett to get on the “f**king” ground.
You also hear Bennett shouting, “I wasn’t doing nothing man! I was here with my friends! They told us to get out, everybody ran!” Then you hear him repeatedly ask why he’s being arrested.
Take a look:
Bennett has been an outspoken supporter of Colin Kaepernick in his campaign to call attention to racial inequality in America. If the incident in Las Vegas happened the way he says it happened—and at this point there is no reason to believe otherwise—it further proves their point.
