Jae Crowder Talks About Telling Mom About Cavs Trade 5 Minutes Before She Passed Away (VIDEO)
Last month, a blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and a bunch of draft picks. It was shocking, to say the least.
Crowder was dealing with a real-life situation at the moment when he got the news. He shared the information with his mother. Then, just five minutes later, she passed away following a battle with cancer at the age of 51. It’s hard to fathom just how difficult that night was, as his life changed in many different ways.
He spoke about that moment during his introductory press conference on Thursday:
“It was a lot going on that day, obviously,” Crowder said at his introductory press conference on Thursday. “The only good thing about the whole ordeal was I was able to whisper to my mom before she passed. I just told her we’re going to Cleveland. About five minutes later she passed. That day was tough, but it was a good day for myself and my basketball career.”
Fast forward to around the 13:00 mark.
