John Harbaugh Says A.J. Green Is The Best WR In The NFL
Week 1 of the NFL season is going to bring out the rivalry games right away. One of the biggest sees the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mere days before the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh offered high praise for Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green, which may raise a couple eyebrows from other wide receivers around the league.
Without conviction, Harbaugh made it clear that Green is the NFL’s best wide receiver .
“I think I was the first coach to go on record to saying he was the best in the league and that was maybe five years ago, six years ago and I stand by that,” Harbaugh said, via Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I think he’s a great player and he’s proven it.”
Cincinnati might not have the playoff success that other franchises have, but Green has certainly put in the work to be called one of the best wide receivers in the league since being drafted fourth overall in 2011.
He has amassed 7,135 receiving yards and 49 touchdowns in 86 games in that time period and his streak of 1,000-yard seasons to start his career ended in 2016—but you could give him a pass on that one since he missed six games and finished only 36 yards shy of the mark.
During his career with the Bengals, he’s had a fun time against the Ravens, racking up 41 receptions, 726 yards and six touchdowns in eight career games against their division rival.
