Al Sharpton Says We’ll Boycott ESPN If Jemele Hill Gets Fired (VIDEO)
The fallout from the Jemele Hill situation continued on Wednesday.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked about Hill’s comments—when she called President Donald Trump a “White Supremacist”, a bigot, and “the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime.” Sanders believes Hill’s tweets were a “fireable offense.”
TMZ recently caught up with Al Sharpton and he made it quite clear that he was standing with Jemele in this fight. He went so far as to say that if she does lose her job because of this, he and many others are prepared to boycott ESPN.
“Sharpton says Hill has every right to express her political views without fear that the government will call for her job.
“Let’s not forget, ESPN is regulated by the FCC. The FCC commissioners are appointed by the White House so it’s a whole different level of intimidation on media outlets when you have the press secretary [calling for a reporter’s job].”
Sharpton says he has a message for Hill — “Stand strong. If they take you out, many of us in the civil rights community will stand up for you and take ESPN off our service.”
Here are those now infamous tweets from Jemele that have had social media in an uproar for the past few days:
