REPORT: Manziel Demands CFL’s Tiger-Cats To Sign, Trade, or Release Him Within 10 Days
At 0-8 on the year and easily the worst team in the entire Canadian Football League, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were looking for any type of spark on the team. That included possibly adding former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel to the squad.
Manziel worked out for the team in Buffalo in August, but Hamilton ultimately decided against signing him. Now, Manziel is demanding the team make a decision regarding him soon.
On Wednesday, the former Cleveland Browns quarterback activated the 10-day window that requires the Tiger-Cats to sign, trade, or release him before it expires, according to TSN.com.
“Manziel is on the Ticats’ negotiation list and the team recently put the former NFL quarterback and college star through a workout in Buffalo.
They could choose to offer him the minimum, but they were believed to be well above that when they had discussions around the time of the workout, reports TSN’s Farhan Lalji.
“We’re not interested in signing Johnny right now,” ex-Ticats head coach Kent Austin said following news breaking of the workout. “
Since their initial interest in Manziel, the team has rallied to win two straight games. They get set to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Tim Hortons Field in Week 13 on Friday.
