Alex Smith Finds It Odd That Trump “Couldn’t Condemn Violent Neo-Nazis” But Lashed Out At NFL Players

Kansas City Chiefs v Los Angeles Chargers

On Friday, Donald Trump made a point to call out NFL players who kneel during the playing of the national anthem. He referred to them as ‘sons of bitches’ that should lose their job for disrespecting this country and the flag.

Alex Smith seemed to notice a lack of consistency when it comes to who Trump attacks.

The Kansas City Chiefs QB noted that the President couldn’t quite find the words to address the violent acts of neo-nazis, but was quick to attack National Football League players for kneeling silently in protest.

Via ESPN staff writer Adam Teicher:

“Chiefs QB Alex Smith on President Trump’s statement critical of National anthem protestors: “I find that very alarming… This is the same guy who couldn’t condemn violent neo-Nazis but he’s condemning guys that are taking a knee during the national anthem.”

It was just a few months ago when Donald Trump referred to the protesters in Charlottesville as “very fine people.” Not surprisingly, he caught hell for those comments.
