Tom Brady, Onetime Trump Fan, Calls Out President On His Comments
While Tom Brady caught flack after a “Make America Great Again” hat was seen in his locker by the press, he’s since been awfully quiet about his politics. However, with the controversy that erupted over the weekend, Brady couldn’t remain silent anymore. Speaking to WEEI’s “Kirk and Callahan,” the NFL legend said on Monday, “I certainly disagree with what he said. I thought it was just divisive.”
He continued, getting back to a more diplomatic line of speaking, “I just want to support my teammates. I’m never one that says, ‘Oh, that’s wrong or that’s right.’ But I do believe in what I believe in, and I believe in bringing people together and respect and love and trust. Those are the values that my parents instilled in me and that’s how I try to live every day.”
Owner Robert Kraft wrote a statement in defense of the Patriot players who sought to take a knee. For Sunday’s game against the Texans, 17 Patriots kneeled before the game in protest.
