Chargers Sign Kicker Nick Novak & Waive Younghoe For Missing Too Many Field Goals
And just like that, the best name in football is no more (for now).
After winning the starting kicker job during the offseason, Younghoe Koo didn’t bring that success into the regular season. He missed several field goals during the first 4 weeks, including a potential game-tying field goal against the Denver Broncos, and a 44-yard attempt to win the game against the Miami Dolphins.
On Thursday, his time was up and the Los Angeles Chargers waived him, deciding to go with Nick Novak instead.
Novak spent four seasons with the Chargers from 2011 to 2014. He made 35 of 41 field goal attempts in the 2016 season as a member of the Houston Texans.
