49ers’ Eric Reid Says Mike Pence Leaving Game Was Clearly A PR Stunt: ‘This Is What Systematic Oppression Looks Like’ (VIDEO)
Just minutes before the game was slated to begin between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence tweeted out that he had just left Lucas Oil Stadium because he was not going to tolerate watching a bunch of players kneel during the National Anthem—which is what many of the 49ers players did.
Following the game, 49ers safety Eric Reid was asked his thoughts on the situation. He was informed that Pence actually tweeted out a photo of himself from a 2014 game and tried to play if off as new. He felt that Pence purposely picked this game because he knew the 49ers had the largest number of players that kneel. He basically called Pence’s move a PR stunt to make a point.
