Boxing Commentator Jim Lampley Says Mayweather Threw Rounds Vs. McGregor To Set Up Rematch (Video)
According to Hall of Fame boxing commentator Jim Lampley, August’s record-breaking boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was just a “marvelous scam” designed to milk a bunch of “suckers.”
Lampley, who’s been calling boxing matches for over 30 years, recently shared his harsh feelings on the so-called superfight with TMZ. He says he is utterly convinced Mayweather tanked at least three rounds, dragging the fight out so as to set up a possible rematch.
But wait, you object. Hasn’t Mayweather said he is definitely 100% retired now?
Lampley doesn’t think so.
“Why should he retire?” Lampley asks rhetorically in the video. “He created a marvelous scam with this whole thing.
“He allowed Conor to quote ‘win’ three rounds so that the whole global MMA wish community could have something to latch on to. I think there’s a decent chance, there’s enough suckers out there, Floyd could maybe make another $150 million, why not?
“It’s all a set up.”
Take a look:
Clearly Jim Lampley is not a member of the Floyd Mayweather fan club.
While I don’t know if Mayweather “threw” any rounds, I do know Lampley’s not alone in thinking the whole fight was a scam. A lot of people (including yours truly) said all along that there was no way on earth McGregor could win, and that this whole thing was just a cash grab.
