Minnesota Football Team Mounts ‘Comeback of the Year’ With 3 TDs in 59 Seconds (VIDEO)

HS Comeback

Minnesota high school football team Maple Grove took down St. Michael-Albertville in the state 6A quarterfinals to advance to the semis. That’s great, but not necessarily national news in and of itself. What IS newsworthy is how the tenacious kids did it.

They were down 27-10 with four minutes left, which is pretty much an insurmountable situation, right? Wrong.

Maple Grove managed to charge 70 yards and score on a 30-yard TD pass with 59 seconds left.

Then they recovered an onside kick and followed that up with a 49-yard TD pass.

Remarkably, that last sequence took only 13 seconds off the clock, so with 46 seconds left, Maple Grove lined up for another onside kick.

They got it, moved down the field with crazy efficiency, then scored on a one-yard TD run with just 4 seconds left.

Ball game.

Coach Matt Lombardi turned this sequence of events into a teachable moment for his players and the public, stating, “Just like we drew it up. It just shows as bad as things might seem for you, you can never give up. You have to keep playing and hope things fall in your favor.”
