LeBron Believes David Fizdale Was Fired Because He Didn’t ‘Kiss Nobody’s Ass’ (VIDEO)
Lebron James, who has had his fair share of controversy for having his coaches fired, believes he knows the reason why David Fizdale was fired.
Like many others that took to social media following the news of the Memphis Grizzlies parting ways with their head coach, the Cleveland Cavaliers star was dumbfounded as to why he would be fired as soon as the team hit a rough patch. LeBron even wondered if Fizdale was just ‘a fall guy’ for a squad that had just lost its 8th straight game.
James expanded on his Twitter comments while speaking with reporters following Monday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
“Probably everybody in the basketball world (was surprised) besides who pulled the trigger.”
“I cannot (process it). … I don’t know the details of it because I’m not around, but I know the type of coach Fiz is, I know how players relate to him, and I know what he stands for.
“And he don’t stand for no (pause) maybe that’s what it was. Maybe that’s what it was, because he ain’t gon’ kiss nobody’s ass. I know that. Maybe that’s what it was.”
The firing came just one day after Fizdale benched Marc Gasol for an entire fourth quarter. Gasol even complained about it to reporters following the game.
General manager Chris Wallace eventually admitted that growing tension between Fizdale and Gasol factored into the decision for the team to move on from him.
Former Houston Rockets head coach J.B. Bickerstaff will serve as the interim head coach.
