Colin Kaepernick Among 10 Finalists For Time Magazine’s Person of The Year

ACLU SoCal Hosts Annual Bill Of Rights Dinner - Red Carpet

Colin Kaepernick continues to excel even with him not having a job in the league this season.

Over two weeks ago, GQ Magazine named the former San Francisco quarterback its “Citizen of the Year,” and the outrage was immediate from people who blame him for sparking league-wide protests against social injustice when he began kneeling for the national anthem last season.

The outrage got a little bigger when Sports Illustrated named him as their ‘Muhammad Ali Legacy Award Winner’ last month.

The fury is only going to continue as the free agent quarterback is in the running for another prestigious award. Kaepernick has been named to Time Magazine’s shortlist for its Person of the Year award for 2017.

The list of Time’s candidates is presented below in alphabetical order.

  1. Jeff Bezos
  2. The Dreamers
  3. Patty Jenkins
  4. Kim Jong Un
  5. Colin Kaepernick
  6. The #MeToo Movement
  7. Robert Mueller
  8. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
  9. Donald Trump
  10. Xi Jinping

Along with pledging to donate $1 million to various organizations fighting oppression, Kaepernick has opened up a conversation about regarding racism and police brutality and is the sole reason the NFL and the Players Coalition reached a historic agreement that would donate $89 million to organizations and programs that emphasized social reform and racial equality.
