Osi Umenyiora Has The Perfect Response to Mike Mitchell’s Rant (TWEET)
Yesterday, Mike Mitchell put the entire football world on notice when he ranted to the media about all of the fines and penalties that are being handed down to players for hits that have been a part of the game forever. His outburst came after many criticized the violent nature of Monday night’s AFC North battle between his Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals—which resulted in two players being carted off the field, along with multiple fines and suspensions.
Many people out there (like Brent Musburger) may have agreed with Mitchell, but he certainly doesn’t speak for all NFL players. Not even close.
Former NFLer Osi Umenyiora, who spent 12 seasons in the league before retiring in 2014, took to Twitter and blasted Mitchell for his “ridiculous” comments, all while reminding him of the dangers that former and current players have faced as a result of the game they play.
Are players really this dumb? Hate to say it but cmon. Former players have died and are dying horrible deaths because of head trauma. And you’re complaining because the league is taking steps to at least try and reduce it. “Make it flag football “. Ridiculous
