A group of UCF fans have purchased a billboard in Tuscaloosa and installed a special message for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

You might assume, given all the stories about UCF claiming to be National Championships, that the billboard denies Alabama’s status as National Champions. But that’s not the case. The billboard doesn’t actually acknowledge their title, but it doesn’t deny it.

“Congratulations Alabama!” the sign reads. Then, underneath that, it says, “How about a home & home series with UCF?”

Take a look:

According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the billboard is the work of 37 UCF fans. They raised $1,665 on GoFundMe to pay for the ad on the digital billboard.

The original plan was to buy a billboard in Atlanta for Monday’s College Football Playoff Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia. When they missed the deadline for that, they decided on the billboard in Tuscaloosa.

“We felt like this year’s team could run with anyone in the country, and the Peach Bowl win [over Auburn] proved that,” explained ringleader Sean Barakett, who says he contributed $100 toward the campaign. “All we needed was a chance to play harder opponents.”

Of course, Alabama-UCF is probably not going to happen. But it really would be a lot of fun. And you gotta hand it to UCF fans for trying.
