Guy Who Shot & Killed Former USC Star, NFL RB Joe McKnight Found Guilty of Manslaughter, Faces 40 Years
It’s crazy to think that it’s been over a year since Joe McKnight was shot and killed at age 28 during an “apparent road rage” incident in Terrytown, LA.
The former USC star & New York Jets RB was shot down by 54-year-old Ronald Gasser who stuck around at the scene and even handed his gun over to police. Although he was initially released without charges, it took just a few days for investigators to piece together what happened and formally charge him with manslaughter.
On Friday, Gasser was found guilty of manslaughter and now faces up to 40 years in prison.
“Ronald Gasser, 56, learned his fate today in a Louisiana courtroom … not far from where he gunned down McKnight during a road-rage incident on December 1, 2016.
Gasser’s attorneys filed motions that McKnight was the aggressor, and their client was acting in self defense when he fired off 3 shots.
The jury took just over 7 hours to deliberate the verdict. “
McKnight was a 4th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and was in the process of making an NFL comeback when he was killed.
