Nike Celebrates Tiger Woods’ Return to Masters with Awesome New Ad (VIDEO)
Tiger Woods made his highly anticipated return to the Masters on Thursday, and to celebrate Nike released a new ad appropriately titled “Welcome Back.”
Woods, of course, has had a pretty rough decade. His personal life unraveled in November 2009, and thanks to a series of knee injuries his golf game unraveled in 2010 and 2011. He got his golf game together again in 2012 and 2013, regaining the number one ranking in the world, but he failed to win a major tournament. Then, in 2014, his struggle with back injuries began.
Tiger had back surgery in the spring of 2014, just one week before the Masters. He had two more back surgeries in 2015 and missed most of 2016. Then he attempted another comeback in 2017, but ultimately underwent his fourth back surgery last April, got hooked on prescription drugs, and wound up getting arrested for DUI in May.
At that point fans and pundits thought Tiger was probably done. Tiger thought Tiger was probably done. But then, all of a sudden, in 2018 Tiger came back out of nowhere. He shocked everyone by finishing 12th at the Honda Classic in February. Then he went and finished 2nd at the Valspar Open and 5th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Now, amazingly, Tiger is back at the Masters for only the second time since 2013. And Nike, his primary sponsor and biggest booster, is celebrating the ups and downs of Tiger’s career with a new ad called “Welcome Back.”
