Thunder Suspend Broadcaster For Game 1 For Describing Westbrook As ‘Cotton-Picking’ (VIDEO)
On Wednesday night, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook was doing what he always does and that was will his team to victory while compiling stats like crazy.
Late in the second quarter, Westbrook jumped in the air and delivered a fantastic pass to Thunder shooting guard Terrance Ferguson, who knocked down a corner 3-pointer and that play had Brian Davis baffled.
The Fox Sports Oklahoma play-by-play man went on to describe Westbrook as being “out of his cotton-picking mind.”
After an uproar about the saying on social media, the OKC Thunder finally decided to take action and suspend him for Game 1 of the playoffs, according to ESPN’s Royce Young.
Following that game, the OKC Thunder would release a statement condemning his racially insensitive language, and Davis would up apologizing.
