BREAKING: Kawhi Leonard Expected To Miss Entire Postseason
It is amazing that the San Antonio Spurs were able to stay focused and win the amount of games they did, despite the cloud of controversy hanging over them regarding whether Kawhi Leonard was coming back to the team or not.
On Saturday, the team got their doors blown off by the Golden State Warriors and many still expected Kawhi to make an appearance at some point during the series. That won’t be happening now.
Yahoo Sports insider Shams revealed that the Spurs star plans to miss the entire postseason to stay committed to his rehab and get his health back in order.
“San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss the remainder of the postseason as he continues to rehabilitate his right quadriceps injury, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Leonard has been rehabbing in New York because that is where his medical staff is located, and he has not been cleared by his doctors, league sources said.
Leonard’s rehab program in New York has been in collaboration and with the approval of the Spurs’ medical staff, league sources said.”
Leonard averaged 25.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game last season, but was limited to only nine games this year and never returned to the court after playing 29 minutes on Jan. 13. The Spurs finished the season 47-35 and clinched the seventh seed in the West during their final games of the year.
