MMA Fighter Suffers Horrendous Arm Injury At LFA 39 (VIDEO)
If gruesome MMA injuries make you squeamish, you’ve definitely come to the wrong place.
Last Friday Jerome Rivera, an up-and-coming flyweight out of Sante Fe, New Mexico, suffered one of the nastiest arm injuries you will ever see.
Rivera suffered the injury during a Legacy Fighting Alliance bout against Brandon Royval. Just 40 seconds into the fight, Royval caught Rivera’s leg and pushed him toward the fence. Rivera then put his right arm out to brace for the impact, but his elbow buckled and bent 90 degrees the other way.

Rivera was initially diagnosed with a broken radial bone and a dislocated elbow, which would keep him out four to six weeks. However, he’ll have an MRI to determine if there is also ligament damage. If there is, he’ll be out a lot longer.
So what does it feel like to have your elbow bent 90 degrees in the wrong direction? Not good!
“I’m standing there, and a couple doctors come into the cage, and they’re coming toward me. I’m like, ‘Get away from me—don’t touch me,'” Rivera told MMA Junkie.
The doctors popped the eblow back in, which did relieve some of the pain. But it was still unlike anything he’s ever felt.
“I remember trying to move my fingers, and it was just like, mangled,” he said. “It looked like I had a monster hand on.”
An apprentice electrician by trade, Rivera (7-2) vows to keep working with one arm until he can get back in the gym and resume his MMA training.
Guy sounds pretty nuts. You kinda have to be to be make it in MMA.
I certainly wouldn’t bet against a comeback.
