Top MLB Prospect Vlad Guerrero Jr. Trolls Baseball Fans Into Thinking He Got Called Up To Big Leagues (TWEETS)

The Toronto Blue Jays’ Vlad Guerrero Jr. has established himself as one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball this spring. At just 19 years old he did not make the big league club out of spring training. But he did hit some memorable moonshots, and so far he’s absolutely raking with the class AA New Hampshire Fisher Cats, hitting .405/.452/.503 with six home runs, 13 doubles, and 38 runs batted in.

After the Atlanta Braves promoted Ronald Acuna last month, Vlad Guerrero Jr. became the most exciting minor league prospect in baseball. Fans everywhere cannot wait to see him hitting in the middle of the Blue Jays lineup. And for a few hours on Monday, it sure looked like the wait was over.

The hysteria all started when Vlad Jr. posted a photo of himself at an airport to Instagram on Monday afternoon. He didn’t say what airport it was, or where he was going. But the post was geotagged with JFK International Airport in New York.

What’s the big deal here? Well, double-A baseball teams generally travel by bus. And the New Hampshire Fisher Cats were supposed to be in Hartford, while the Toronto Blue Jays were in New York for a series against the Mets. So naturally, everybody jumped to the logical conclusion that this was Vlad Jr.’s way of announcing he’d been called up to the big leagues.

But just when the hype started going through the roof, Vlad removed the JFK geotag from the photo. Then he deleted the photo altogether, leaving everybody scratching their heads.

Eventually it was discovered that the photo of Vlad at the airport was one he’d originally posted back in December.

So why did he post that photo again and say it was taken at JFK? The only logical conclusion is that he was trolling us.

And if that is the case, you have to admit, it’s pretty funny.
