Twitter Reacts To ESPN Congratulating Jemele Hill For Getting An Award After They Suspended Her (TWEETS)
ESPN Can’t be this tone deaf, right?
Last year, Jemele Hill found herself suspended for two weeks in October for tweeting about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and asking for a boycott from advertisers after Jones threatened to sit any player on the roster for kneeling during the National Anthem.
This week, Hill was named Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists, an award that recognizes someone “who has amassed a distinguished body of work with extraordinary depth, scope and significance to the people of the African Diaspora.”
On Tuesday, ESPN sent this tweet out:
Congratulations! NABJ names Jemele Hill as its “Journalist Of The Year”; the award recognizes The Undefeated's columnist for her "distinguished body of work" https://t.co/gZS0RR1tng pic.twitter.com/8nvcCw6JAR

That had many people confused, because her winning the award had much to do with her standing up for what she believed in. But that also happens to be the reason why she was suspended by ESPN several months earlier.
Social media was quite confused by this:

They didn’t fire her. They suspended her and moved her to a non-televised role (which is just as insulting and demeaning imo). Then they have the nerve to brag about her. ESPN can f—k off.
