REPORT: Patrick Mahomes Tossing INTs & Completing Less Than 50% Of Passes In Practice
After a 10-6 season and a Wildcard loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Kansas City Chiefs decided to make a drastic change by trading starting QB Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins.
The franchise has been raving about back-up QB Patrick Mahomes for some time, and now it’s finally his time to shine. Someone may want to move these clouds out of the way so he can shine, because his tenure as a starter is off to a rocky start.
On Thursday, the first year starter and the first-team offense had an absolute terrible day as he threw multiple interceptions in both 7-on-7 and full team drills. Mahomes completed under 50 percent of his passes overall, according to Pro Football Talk.
After practice, the sophomore quarterback had this to say:
“If you want to make mistakes, you make them now,” Mahomes said, via ESPN.com. “You don’t want to make those mistakes in the game.”
It’s best to get the mistakes out of the way in May and during the preseason, because if Mahomes struggles out of the gate, heads will roll.
