Warren Moon Says The NFL Banning Anthem Kneeling Was The Right Thing To Do (VIDEO)
Warren Moon says the NFL Anthem rule might not be fool-proof or a perfect solution to the protests during the Star-Spangled Banner, but it was the right thing to do to put the focus back on football.
Earlier this week, the NFL sent shockwaves through the sport when they laid out a plan to completely ban kneeling or anything deemed disrespectful towards the Anthem by stating teams would be subject to fines if players are on the sideline and not standing and respecting the country.
Former Houston Oilers QB and hall of famer Warren Moon says if the kneeling was hurting business, then it was something that had to be done.
“This way all the attention goes back to the anthem and takes it away from the players, which it should be, because the anthem is the anthem and it should stand alone because it’s for everybody.”
Warren also said the solution wasn’t without it’s flaws, but was “as close to perfect as you’re gonna get,” because all the controversy was hurting the business of the NFL.”
In the new policy, players also have the option of staying in the locker room during the playing of the National Anthem to avoid any punishment.
