Emeline Miller, the 19-month-old daughter of Olympic skier Bode Miller and beach volleyball player Morgan Miller, died on Sunday after a drowning incident in Southern California swimming pool the previous evening.

According to the Associated Press, paramedics were called to a home in Orange County around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. They tried to resuscitate the girl while transporting her to an emergency room, but they never got a pulse. She was eventually pronounced dead at the hospital on Sunday morning.

Bode Miller, a six-time Olympic medalist in alpine skiing, confirmed the horrendous news about his daughter in a devastating Instagram post on Monday.

“We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday,” Miller wrote. “Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this. Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time.”

Emeline was the second child of Bode and Morgan Miller. Words cannot possibly describe what they are going through right now.
