Red Sox Announcer Jerry Remy Tried The Toasted Grasshoppers At Safeco, And His Reaction Was PRICELESS (Video)

Last season the Seattle Mariners and food service provider Centerplate introduced toasted grasshoppers as a concession item at Safeco Field. Tossed in chipotle lime salt, the grasshoppers were billed as “a one-of-a-kind snack that the fans will really love—either on a taco or on their own.”

Naturally, a lot of people scoffed at the gimmick. But apparently the Mariners and Centerplate knew what they were talking about. The chipotle lime grasshoppers sold so well last season that they brought them back for 2018. However, one person who is definitely not a fan is Boston Red Sox announcer Jerry Remy.

NESN sideline reporter Guerin Austin brought some grasshoppers to the broadcast booth during the third inning of Thursday night’s game, and Remy decided to try one of the crunchy critters on a whim.

Remy’s reaction was absolutely priceless. Turns out they’re not his cup of tea! Nevertheless, being a true team player, Remy vowed to eat another grasshopper on Friday if the Red Sox won on Thursday.

Take a look:

In case you’re wondering, yes, the Red Sox did win. So tune in to the Red Sox-Mariners game tonight if you want to see him eat another grasshopper.
