The preliminary hearing for the new case is scheduled for Aug. 17.
REPORT: Kellen Winslow II Now Charged With 2003 Rape of Teen
Kellen Winslow II was already facing an uphill battle to begin with, after being charged multiple counts of kidnapping, rape, indecent exposure and burglary, and now he has another charged added on to that harrowing list.
While in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing on his other charges, the former NFL player was also arraigned on a rape charge for an incident that allegedly occurred 15 years ago. The former Jets tight end was accused of raping an unconscious 17-year-old female in a San Diego home back in 2003, the USA Today reported.
That means he was just 19-years-old and a junior playing on the Miami Hurricanes.
“When there is a rape that occurs and the victim is under the age of 18 years old, there is no statutory time [limit] to when that can be charged,” Dan Owens, deputy district attorney in San Diego County, said, via the newspaper.
Winslow allegedly kidnapped and raped a 54-year-old woman in March, then a 58-year-old woman in May.
